Please Note: To ensure you purchase the correct size for your children there is a range of try on samples, which will be available at the school office on a Wednesday morning.

Rationale
The staff and governors of St. Keyna Primary School aim to promote a positive and distinctive image in the community and a strong sense of belonging. We believe that the wearing of a uniform will assist this process as it can instill a sense of pride and community. A smart appearance helps to reinforce the school’s message about its standards and high expectations for every pupil. A uniform is also a great social leveler, and makes the clothing of school children more straightforward. The school therefore expects every pupil to attend school clean and tidy, wearing the authorised uniform;
 
Nursery Uniform

• Purple sweatshirt or cardigan with school logo
• Purple T-shirt with school logo
• Trousers/skirt of own choice
• Sensible shoes suitable for play in and outdoors

Nursery PE Kit

• Shorts and T-shirt (any colour)

School Uniform

• Jade sweatshirt or cardigan with school logo
• White polo shirt (logo optional)
• Green and white check summer dress
• Navy pinafore, trousers, skirt or tailored shorts
• White, navy, black or grey socks or tights
• Black shoes or sandals

PE Kit

• Navy shorts
• White t-shirt (school logo optional)
• Black daps (indoors)
• Trainers-KS2 (outdoor games)
• Optional navy tracksuit for games (logo optional)

Guidelines

• The school will endeavor to ensure that the cost of the uniform will be affordable.
• The family will be encouraged to see that garments are labeled with the child’s name, are clean and in good repair.
• Extreme hairstyles such as ‘mohicans’ will be discouraged.
• For health and safety reasons, no jewelry is permitted except a wristwatch and one stud in each ear. During physical activities, studs must be removed or covered with micropore. The school cannot be held responsible for the loss of any of these items.
• Pupils may not wear make-up, fake tattoos or nail varnish to school.
• If pupils do not wear the correct uniform a polite letter will be sent home requesting compliance. In the result that this is not effective a member of the Senior Leadership team will meet with the family to resolve the issue.

This policy will be reviewed in Autumn 2012 or sooner if required.
