School Uniform Policy

Principles
It is our policy that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning and working environment. It is also important that children wear appropriate clothing when taking part in certain activities (gym/ dance) or when participating in trips and out of school events. We provide a complete list of the items needed for children’s school uniform in this policy and in our school handbook.

Aims
Our policy for children’s school uniform is based on the belief that a school uniform:

promotes a sense of pride in the school
engenders a feeling of community and belonging
is practical and smart
identifies the children with the school
is not distracting in class (as fashion clothes might be)
makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
is regarded as suitable, and good value for money, by most parents
has been designed with health and safety in mind.
reflects positively on school and community.

Our colours are black, red and grey. Our uniform is as follows:

Boys

School black sweatshirt with school logo
School white polo shirt with school logo or (white shirt)
School black or red reversible fleece jacket with school logo
Grey or black trousers
School tie

Girls

School black/red sweatshirt with school logo
School Black/red cardigan with school logo
School white polo shirt with school logo or (white shirt)
School black or red reversible fleece jacket with school logo
Grey or black trousers, skirt or pinafore
Red gingham dresses may be worn in the summer term
School tie

For PE all children need

T shirt
Shorts
Gym Shoes or inside trainers
A tracksuit for outdoor P.E. and games activities is very useful

Jewellery
On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery while taking part in P.E. activities.

All clothing and footwear should be clearly labelled with your child’s name
