James Wolfe Primary School - Nursery,Reception Yrs 1,2,3 Only (Randall Place), Randall Place Campus, Randall Place, Greenwich, Greater London, SE10 9LA
Our school uniform policy is based on the notion that a school uniform promotes a sense of pride in the school, looks smart and is practical and makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance.
The James Wolfe School uniform is a navy blue sweatshirt or cardigan with the school logo on it, worn with a polo shirt (navy blue or white) and dark trousers or skirts (navy blue, black or grey). Girls may wear blue gingham dresses. Shorts may be worn in the summer. Sensible footwear should be worn.
A logo is required on the school jumper, but is not required on any other item of clothing.
For PE the uniform is a white T-shirt, blue shorts, white or blue socks, and a pair of trainers. For outdoor PE sessions pupils should also wear a pair of blue tracksuit bottoms.
Children are required to wear the uniform to school at all times for pupils in Reception to Year 6. Uniform is not required for nursery pupils.
All pupils must wear the uniform when representing the school at events off school property. Children are at all times ambassadors for the school, and never more so than when larger groups are on school trips. The children should wear the uniform with pride, as it identifies them as pupils of James Wolfe School.
Finally, pupils should wear the PE uniform when they are representing James Wolfe at inter-school sporting events.
Pupils with pierced ears may wear a single stud-earring or a pair of stud-earrings to school. For safety reasons, children must not wear rings to school. Long hair is to be tied back.
Children must not wear make-up or nail polish.
The shoes children wear should be sensible for both learning and play time, so strapless shoes, flip-flops and shoes with high heels are not allowed.
Light-coloured jeans are not acceptable for trousers.
Football strips are not acceptable for PE lessons.
We ask all parents who send their children to James Wolfe to support the school uniform policy. We believe that parents have a duty to send their children correctly dressed and ready for work. One of the responsibilities of parents is to ensure that their child has the correct uniform, and that it is clean and in good repair.
The Headteacher will decide what is to be done if a pupil’s appearance is judged to be inappropriate. If any pupil arrives at school dressed inappropriately, they will either be asked to change what they are wearing or be given a shared-use uniform to wear for the rest of day.
The Headteacher is responsible for enforcing the James Wolfe uniform policy and has the full support of the school’s governors.
If any parent would like the school to modify the uniform policy, they should first speak to the headteacher. The school welcomes children from all backgrounds and faith communities.
The governing body implements the school uniform policy. It works with the Headteacher to ensure that the policy is implemented fairly and with sensitivity. It is the responsibility of the governors to ensure that the school uniform meets all regulations concerning equal opportunities.
Governors ensure that the school uniform policy helps children to dress sensibly, in clothing that is hard wearing, safe and practical.
