School Uniform Policy

The governors and staff are fully committed to providing a school to be proud of.

For the children’s part we want them to demonstrate their pride in school by committing to a common uniform policy. Parental co-operation is an invaluable source of support. Our school uniform is important to us. It is one way in which we identify ourselves as a school family. It plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of a school and setting an appropriate tone. It promotes a strong, cohesive school identity which supports high standards and expectations in all areas of school life.

The requirements and standards set for our school have been set for good reason after careful consideration. Smartness and high standards are expected at all times. Common sense is a reasonable guide to what we consider acceptable and all will appreciate the reasons for adopting a more formal school uniform in that extremes of fashion in shoes, clothing and hair styles will not be permitted within the school. We expect all parents and children to follow the school uniform policy.

The Governing body will respect variations to our school uniform if they are directly related to established religious or cultural traditions, medical or special need. Any variation will be dealt with on an individual basis and judgements will remain at the discretion of the Head Teacher and the Governing Body.

SCHOOL SHOES FOR ALL PUPILS Black low heeled sensible school shoes with fastening ( e.g. velcro, buckles, laces). Shoes must be worn in school. If boots are worn on the way to school, children must change into shoes for school. Sandals are not permitted – shoes must have enclosed heel and toe all year round. Slip-on shoes e.g. ballet shoes, pumps, are not permitted. Trainers are the most suitable footwear for outdoor PE but for hygiene purposes must be changed after sport and may not be worn in school.
SCHOOL COATS Coats should be plain and dark coloured – preferably black or navy blue.
PE KIT FOR ALL PUPILS Sky blue polo shirt with school logo Navy blue shorts For indoor PE – black plimsolls (preferably elasticated for younger children) For outdoor PE – light coloured trainers Gym bag to contain the above – bags with school, logo are available.
ALL Shoulder length hair must be tied back (for health and safety reasons – it can help prevent nits/lice) No jewellery, other than watches, should be worn to school because of Health and Safety issues as well as the risk of loss etc.However, if your child does have their ears pierced then they should wear small, plain studs only. These must be removed for PE lessons. Studs in newly pierced ears must be covered with sticky plasters provided by you for no longer than 6 weeks. No make up, including nail varnish, is permitted. ' Handbag’ style bags are not suitable for use as school bags.
