This is the website for our school’s official online uniform supplier. You can buy most items of your child’s uniform knowing that the items have been carefully selected to ensure that you receive good quality, hard wearing uniform and the prices represent excellent value for money from a company that prides itself on trading ethically.
The Bridgewater School colour is a distinctive jay blue. Our uniform is both tasteful and practical: acceptance of a place at this school means acceptance of the school uniform. The uniform gives a visible sign of belonging to the school and helps the development of a community spirit whilst also ensuring equality of status in dress. Pupils are expected to look smart at all times and dress to work.
When you accept a place at Bridgewater, you will be sent a full uniform list with prices. All items can be purchased through our local supplier or can be ordered online through the link on our school website. A special uniform sales day is organised prior to pupils starting school for the first time. Second-hand uniform can also be purchased through the school.
Should you experience financial difficulties in equipping your child with uniform, there is some help available. Families seeking advice should speak to the Headteacher, or the Deputy Headteacher, who will treat the matter with the utmost confidence.
Boys’ Uniform:
· Navy short sleeved polo shirt (school logo optional)· Jay blue sweatshirt (with school logo)· Black flannel trousers (not grey) or grey Bermuda school shorts· Socks: grey, navy or black· Black shoes (not boots or trainers)· Suitable weather-proof coat or jacket**
Girls’ Uniform:
· Navy skirt (knee-length)· White polo shirt (with school logo optional)· Optional plain black school trousers *· Jay blue sweatshirt or cardigan (with school logo) · Summer dress – optional (available from local supplier only)· Socks: dark if worn with trousers, navy in winter and white in summer if worn with skirts/dresses. Ankle or knee length socks: trainer socks are NOT allowed. Tights may be navy or natural colours.· Black shoes (not boots or trainers and low-heeled with solid backs). Shoes must be substantial and not low cut, “dolly” or ballet style as they will need to offer protection to the feet during practical lessons in Science and Technology. Platform shoes or heels over two inches are unsuitable and a potential Health & Safety hazard.· Suitable weather-proof coat or jacket**
For PE/Games: for girls and boys
· Sky blue polo shirt (with school logo optional)· Sky/Navy reversible rugby shirt ( only available from our local supplier)· Navy shorts · Navy /sky sport socks ( with school name: only available from our local supplier)· Optional but recommended: navy/white tracksuit bottoms
Please note that the first four items that make up the basic PE kit can be ordered as a single package through our local supplier. Only the shorts and polo shirts are currently available online.
Pupils will require in addition, white socks, trainers and boots (optional for girls) for football and rugby.
*The school uniform shop offers a range of styles: all girls’ trousers must be purchased through the school suppliers as fashion trousers are NOT permitted.
** Coats and jackets with prominent logos or made from materials such as faded denim are not suitable for school. They should be waterproof as well as warm (in winter). A suitable reversible fleece/ waterproof jacket is available for order from our online supplier.
Pupils should not wear jewellery to school, other than a watch.
Ear-rings present a particular problem, both in terms of safety and security and you are strongly advised not to allow your child to wear them to school. They may only wear a single pair of sleepers or plain studs, one in each ear. They must not be worn at all for PE lessons or any activity where the teacher feels there might be a safety risk. The responsibility for keeping them safe will lie entirely with the pupil at all times.
Contact lenses worn for fashion purposes rather than prescribed by an optician must never be worn in school. Similarly, make-up should not be worn in school at any time.
