Introduction

This policy has been written in conjunction with the pupils, parents, Governors and school staff at Wisborough Green Primary School. We, as a school, feel that it would benefit the whole school community to have a set of guidelines for school uniform at Wisborough Green Primary School.

We believe that wearing a school uniform:

• promotes a sense of pride in the school
• engenders a feeling of community and belonging
• is practical and smart
• identifies the children with the school
• is not distracting in class
• encourages a sense of equality
• is regarded as suitable, and good value for money, by most parents
• should be designed with health and safety in mind.

Girls’ Uniform :

• grey or black skirt or trousers
• white or dark green blouse or polo shirt
• green sweatshirt or cardigan
• black shoes
• Girls can wear green school dresses in the summer.

Boys’ Uniform :

• grey or black trousers
• white or dark green polo shirt
• green sweatshirt or cardigan
• black shoes
• Boys can wear plain grey or black shorts in the summer (not sports shorts).

P.E. and Games Kit :

Boys and girls wear:

• black shorts
• sports T-shirt in red, blue, yellow or green according to their team colour
• plimsolls/trainers
• The children can wear a black zipped hooded sweatshirt and jogging bottoms during winter months
• Girls can wear a plain black or green leotard for gymnastics
